Hey!  So it’s been several months since my last post describing my search for good bookcase plans.  If you haven’t read my story, you might consider scrolling down and reading it after this review.

For a quick recap though, I found a great source of online woodworking plans thanks to a friend of mine, and ended up the proud owner of a huge library of 14,000 woodworking plans.  After these few months I’ve had a chance to use a few more of those plans and I thought I’d share my thoughts with the rest of you.

Note:  I just got some sample plans from the owner of the plans library.  He gave me permission to send them to folks that are interested in his library.  If you want to check them out, fill out the form on the right hand side of this page!

I really don’t want to waste your time with a big in depth review, so I’m going to stick to some bullet points here.  Simple pros and cons!  And with no further ado, here’s my review!

My Review of the Woodworking Plans Library

Pros:

  1. Super comprehensive library with over 14,000 plans available.
  2. There’s a plan for just about any woodworking project imaginable.
  3. There are plans suitable for all skill levels, not just experts.
  4. When I bought the plans, I got a bunch of extra bonuses that I never expected!
  5. I got instant access to the plans, even though I bought it at eleven pm.
  6. There was a 60 day no questions asked money back guarantee, so there was zero risk.

Cons:

  1. The price tag seemed a bit steep at first.  But the library was on sale for 50% off, and the price worked out to be less than a penny per plan, so it wasn’t as bad as I thought.  (Note:  I just checked, the sale is still going … better hurry!)
  2. A few of the plans were a bit blurry, but after going through more that was the exception, not the rule.
  3. Some of the plans didn’t include a materials list, but I found it was pretty simple to create the list on my own.

Summary:

I’ve built a few more projects from these plans, and have had great results.  I honestly couldn’t be happier with my purchase.  Here’s a picture of one of the projects I did!

Oh right … I had a surprise for you!  I felt so strongly about these woodworking plans that I went ahead and asked John, the owner of the library, if I could share a couple with you.

He went way above and beyond and gave me permission to share a couple plans as samples AND gave me a video of the members area of his library.

I’d love to share these with you, all you have to do is fill out this little form and check your email and I’ll send you the plans and the video.  I hope you are as satisfied with these plans as I am!

Hey guys, I thought I’d take a quick minute and finish up my story and show you all where I found the bookcase plans that I used for my latest project.

As a quick recap or if you didn’t read the first part of the story, my wife and I are remodeling our home and wanted a nice builtin bookcase.  I couldn’t find any useful plans online, and the free plans I tried were awful.  I built one and it fell apart before I could get it into place.

I ran into a friend of mine at the hardwood supply store and he had just finished a crib for their new baby.  He found a great site that had a ton of woodworking plans for a nominal one time fee.  I expected to pay a fair amount of money considering that you can easily spend $20 a pop for a good project plan.

I went home and checked out the website Kurt gave me.  The first thing that jumped out at me was was the number of plans available.  I was expecting a fair amount, but what I wasn’t expecting was 14,000 plans to be available.  And the ‘nominal fee’ Kurt told me about?  Less than $50.  So for the price of two regular plans I would get access to a library of plans that covered anything I’d ever want to build. After I signed up I downloaded all of the plans to my computer and my wife and I looked at the different plans available.  We found a great set of built-in bookcase plans and used it as a starting point.  I’m sure you like to tweak plans like I do to add that personal touch.  These plans made it easy!

I spent the rest of the week out in the shop every evening and ended up with a gorgeous pair of bookcases, and they fit perfectly in the space we had identified.  Installation was a snap!  We’re very pleased with the end result

I have to say, the best part of all was the plan itself.  Detailed diagrams, step by step instructions, you name it.  Even though I’m an experienced woodworker, even a novice could have followed this plan easily!  I recommend this plans library highly, and have told all my friends about it.

Oh yeah … do you like our bookcases?  Excuse the remodeling scars on the walls :)

Hey there, it’s Matt again. So I was looking all over for good project plans and not having much luck. Honestly, it wasn’t that hard to find bookcase plans online, but the major problem was finding plans that were of usable quality.

The free plans were worth what you paid for them.  Nothing.  I even knocked up a few prototypes with the leading free project plans and they didn’t stand up to even basic tests.  Woodstove, here they come!

I just couldn’t find a good source of furniture plans to fit my needs.  Then I ran into my buddy Kurt at the hardwood supply store.  He had just finished a nice crib for his new baby and I asked him where he found the crib plans.

He told me about a new website he found that had super high quality woodwork plans for a reasonable price.  Definitely better than the free woodworking plans you could find out there on the Internet, he said.

Kurt confided in me that he had similar problems looking for a high quality plan for his baby crib.  You definitely don’t want to skimp on a project like that!  He found this website and he said it was perfect.

I didn’t need to hear anything else.  I went home and took a look at the website and it was a veritable library of woodworking plans.  They had plans for all sorts of bookcases and just about any kind of wood furniture you could want.

I checked out a few of the plans and they were definitely fantastic.  Detailed with step by step directions and perfect illustrations.  I found the perfect set of bookcase plans and started my new project right away!

Ok, so I like my shop!  Let me brag a little bit about my woodworking shop.  I have the usual tools … table saw, jointer, drill press, planer.  I have a nice collection of antique tools as well, which I am particularly proud of!

Every woodworker likes to show off his shop.  I made those cabinets myself using a nice set of cabinet plans from the same place I got my bookcase plans.  I hope you like them!

Hey there, this is Matt!  I thought I’d start my story by telling you just why I was looking for bookcase plans.  It’s actually pretty simple.  I had some old bookcases in my living room that were starting to show their age.

They were in good shape, but they didn’t fit the rest of the wooden furniture we had in the living room, and we wanted something that would blend in more.

Woodworker that I am, of course I decided to make some new ones.  My wife and I discussed it and decided that a built-in double bookcase would be just perfect.

So the search began.  I started looking for high quality bookcase plans online, but was stymied.  I thought it would be easy to find a good project plan but boy was I wrong!
